SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras — We’re trying something new this trip: An Audio Dispatch! It’s essentially a long-ish voice mail from me (remember those?) about what the day has been like on the ground in San Pedro Sula and what we learned from the USMNT media access.

It’s not supposed to be a highly-produced podcast, but rather a natural audio track that gives you an idea of what it’s like to cover the U.S. at a World Cup qualifier. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Seeing the parking spot I had for my rental car here in 2009, when I got mugged at gunpoint and interviewed the country’s president in the same day, brought back some memories today.

If you read this newsletter and value it, consider going to the paid version. Doing quality soccer journalism and becoming sustainable requires people being willing to pay for it. If you’re reading this in your inbox, you can find a shareable version online here. You can follow me on Twitter here and Instagram here. Feel free to comment below, and thanks for reading.
