I’ve never seen the US play like they did in the 2nd half. Outstanding.

Best game for Weah in the USMNT kit?

Zimmerman was a stalwart, Pulisic the boost we needed. Too fast and athletic to overcome. GO USA!

Ecstatic with the win and the 3 points. Let's get 3 next week against the Reggae Boyz and go into the new year with 17 points!!

It's good that the major takeaways are about the players and their performance. But one unnamed headline from the night is that Berhalter's approach is working, leading the team to break nearly century old records. It's going to be interesting to see how the US fan base, particularly the critics and skeptics, respond to tonight's performance.

Youth was key. More stamina and more athleticism. Love the speed that we have in our midfield.

The US was fortunate not to be behind at the half. I like the concept of attacking fullbacks, but Antonee and Yedlin got caught too often. Mexico didn’t take the chances they were given, and in the end that cost them.

Aaronsen is the king of workrate. He does not stop. Ever. But his corners and free kicks were poor at best. The good news is if everybody’s healthy, he doesn’t take them. Berhalter’s fortunate, because Aaronsen and Weah don’t start if CP and Gio are fit. It’s a depth I don’t recall the US ever having.

Walker Zimmerman is a rock, and after “MMA” is the next name on the team sheet. I thought almost everybody in a US shirt was solid, although Pepi wasn’t effective. Miles and McKennie will be missed against Jamaica, and while this is a really good win it doesn’t mean much if you don’t follow it up with another one. But for now? Dos A Cero LIVES!!!

It was a solid enough 1st half but the second half was the real eye opener. I was watching the post mortem from the ESPN Deportes in Spanish after the game and there was a lot of hand wringing and some finger pointing which isn't surprising. About half of the pundits were outraged at the coach Tata and the lack of bravery, composure and grit I guess you would say. Including the usual sniping from Hugo Sanchez about not having a Mexican national as manager. The other half of the pundits I think realized that the US was and probably is a better team at this point and warned that there is probably more on the way from the US going forward. I think that Mexico is in a transitional period where their best players are getting to the end of the line and the newer younger talent just hasn't arrived yet. It's just bad timing not really the manager's fault. All teams or most of them not named Brazil or France can go through these periods. Canada will be difficult in Edmonton in 18 degree weather on Tuesday. If I was Mexico I'd forget about this game and worry about Canada.

seems to me like US strung more passes together and kept ball possession much better than ever before, but maybe I don't remember very well ? If they can play keep away against mexico this well, there's a good chance we can do the same thing against mid-tier teams in the world cup, rather than always relying on streaking fast magical one-offs from Pulisic or hoping for a target forward to hold a long pass long enough for someone else to catchup to and collect a pass midstride

I'm thinking about Ghana in knockout rounds in previous world cups

today's game was a matter of taking 1 or 2 out of the 5 or 6 chances we had without having to depend on secretary of defense goalies to block 20 shots from the opponent

previous games against quality opponents have always been more lopsided against us in terms of chances and possession, and the US having lower percentage of pulling off miracles, whereas today's game was more even and looked like we could do the same against teams like anyone in south america(except brazil/argentina) and anyone in europe except Germany, France, England, Spain, Italy

was bit worried how the U.S played offensively in the 1st half. Mexico had good set pieces and that clearly shows their chemistry. I think U.S will continue to develop this as they get closer to end of the qualifiers hopefully.

Can you speak on the second half shift in attack by having Weah more central and helping Pepi create more threats?
