It’s crazy they let him spend a record fee (like $270M+) and then can him a few days after the transfer window closes.
As a Chelsea fan, I don’t necessarily hate the move… I don’t know if Tuchel was really getting the best out of a lot of the talent he had , but the dude won the UCL recently and had solid success. The timing just seems very poor. But it’s a nice change of pace for Pulisic, hopefully one that leads to more opportunities on his end.
I’m not sure Potter can handle the egos of the Chelsea veterans at this point in his career. Auba & Sterling both had issues with managers at previous clubs. Man management needs to be a priority. Of the 2, Pochettino would seem to be a better fit in that regard.
Agreed they’re building the org backwards. But the team TOTALLY needs a system change, and Tuchel wasn’t going to do it. They are completely underperforming, no matter who’s in the team.
It wasn't surprising looking at it objectively, but I think most Chelsea fans are shocked it happened so early into the season. Something was definitely off with this team, and a change needed to be made. We aren't competing for major trophies this year, so might as well let Boehly reshape the org as he sees fit.
Needed move, and only surprised that they were quick enough to pull the trigger now. If you are playing the long game, goal for next couple of years is to try to keep involved in Europe while building the stronger foundation. Boehly auditioned Tuchel and, rightly, found him wanting. There is no longer the luxury of assuming Manager and finding Sporting Director. He must determine if he can pick the next Klopp (Potter is a great target, or Poch, or open up the search to less Tier1 names). Sporting Director is probably secondary for a couple of years. Then, you can build up the role to be a Michael Edwards type target.
Since Auba and Dembele at Dortmund, seems he’s really developed no attackers. He argued w Mbappe, Isak, etc.
Seems a little too quick of a decision. I assumed he would be replaced eventually but it wasn't such a dire situation. Also Tuchel did a good job keeping the team playing through all the drama last season.
Not surprised Tuchel was canned - he'd lost the players and there's generally not a way back from that.
Interesting time for Pulisic. Seems like a time of both opportunity and risk for his career. His sidelining by Tuchel was unfair. Some of the behavior (snubbing away fans, family social media posts, etc.) prior to transfer window closing seemed tactical to get him moved from the club, but hurt him with fans. He also hasn't played well in the limited opportunities he's been given, though nobody else really has either.
Simply put, if and when he's given an opportunity under the new management he must produce. If he does, his career will continue to ascend and his minor past transgressions will be forgotten. If he doesn't, he will be tagged as an underperforming prima donna, and his career may head in the other direction. I tend to believe he will rise to the occasion, but we'll see.
Can't be worse for CP10 and the rest of the attack....can it? Agree with Ross too. Building the front office should have been the first step. He needs a technical director asap.
man doesn't last more than three years at the club level because people start to see through his antics speak louder than his actual tactics. 107 matches @ Dortmund. 127 matches @ PSG. Just about made it to 100 matches with Chelsea.
i don't think they reasonably could have done it sooner than this with real cause given what he accomplished in his first year and what he navigated through last year during the takeover, but this was absolutely going to happen at some point this season. Might as well get it done early as possible.
all that said, no reason yet to believe Clearlake have any clue how to build a front office in this sport which could, ya know, be a problem when trying to recruit a new manager during September.

Lagerway to Chelsea!
Sounders fans say no!
Conte smirks.

Good riddance. My admiration stopped sometime last season. Glad to see the guy go. Pretty sure the players feel the same way.

Any coach who doesn't line up with seven defenders will be a boon for the attackers.
