In partnership with Meadowlark Media and Le Batard and Friends for every USMNT World Cup qualifier, Grant is joined by Landon Donovan and Chris Wittyngham to discuss the USMNT’s 2-1 win over Costa Rica on Matchday 6 of the World Cup qualifying campaign. The U.S. (11 points) is now in second place in the tournament, behind Mexico (14), the next opponent for the U.S. on November 12 in Cincinnati.
Ruiz is very slow today, but all the Ruiz slander tonight has me reflecting that if there was a Concacaf player of the decade awarded, he would have arguably the strongest case to make for the 2010-2020 decade.
A lot of happy talk, but I'm still a bit confused. Landon commented that the 2nd goal would have been saved if Navas had remained in the game. So, aside from the age/fitness advantage, the home advantage, the player quality advantage, and the player rotation/freshness advantage, the USMNT was left with a win resting on a key opposing player going out at halftime? That makes me think there is still a lot wrong with the team and program.
