I was sold on 3G at the beginning. I said this guy is a think-a-holic. Now, I don't think he even thinks. I thought about McKinnie and disciplinary actions and quickly thought about football players, basketball players etc that tend to stray away. The HC will bench them for the first series or for the half, not the whole game. I don't think 3G can manage personalities. I am fit to be tied that we have the MOST talented squad in CONCACAF and can ONLY muster ties.
3G if you want to prove a point to McKinnie make him run extra laps, we can't go through another round of not qualifying for the WC!! I still think the good ole boy USMNT network is going to crash these talented players. Oooh well, here's to hoping the US gets a win against Honduras and here's too Llegett getting another start! (sarcasm).
At the end of the day, I HATE to say it but like my friend said, 3G is just a JV coach, and I now agree! SMH!!
I think Gregg is the symptom... he needs to go But WIll(really MBA for EGADE online dergee?), Ernie( no articulated sporting vision no dev plan), Niel(Coms and content are terrible) Need to be gone first. USSF is pretty broken and adrift due to good old boy thinking
Here are my questions: is 3G too much of a wonkerific data-holic that it hampers his ability to make tactical adjustments on the fly? Does he have the emotional intelligence to do the so-called "man-management" on and off the field? I recall when Stewart described the hiring process for USMNT coach, it sounded like it was sponsored by Microsoft Excel, in which potential candidates were eliminated by formula. (The fact that the formulas nonetheless produced someone related to a USSF insider, Jay Berhalter, later forced out of USSF, is another matter entirely.) I think we can forgive the youthful mistakes on the field, but the lack of leadership on the field seems reflective of a lack of leadership from the coach. At the same time, there's so much we don't know about the environment in which the squad is operating. Roger Bennett has said those summer trophies, while fun, were essentially meaningless, and he was right, although many cast him as Dr. Buzzkill. It makes you wonder if those summer triumphs gave this squad and its coach a false sense of confidence going into these games. Yes, two points are better than no points, but these are unconvincing draws. I hope they can turn it around in Honduras.
