@Grant - did Gio's haircut come from the USMNT barber? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm on the case!

It seemed to me Steffen was solid in the Azteca, but wobbly in Orlando. What do y’all think?

I confess I hadn’t seen Dennis Bergkamp before (my European soccer awareness started around 2009), but glad you made the comparison - those highlights are amazing!

You should look around for more Bergkamp highlights. That set was good but there are others. He was so smooth and effortless. Just a joy to watch. And made lots of defenders look silly along the way.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning the "high and tight" that Gio got after the Mexico game. 👍

Curious as to who is in the “leadership group”? Really enjoy your work.

Love the distinction made about players' competitiveness but "no jerk teammates in this group." That's a huge positive for the coaching staff, especially with the amount of young guys in the squad.

Are the Reynas done having kids? Anybody want to start a pool and chip in to hopefully incentivize this couple to produce another soccer superstar??? Seems like a sure thing no?

this was such great insight on Gio, and gives context to his reaction to Peafok's miss.

Excellent read. The insight into Gio is why I subscribe. And how many times can I watch the slo-mo video in one day?

Great article, Grant. I hope they can continue to stay friends and keep looking forward to national team camps. If they do, can stay motivated to improve, and can stay healthy, they can get to where no US team has ever gotten - regular front page news - and exponentially grow the game. That’s what ALL US fans want.

The future can be so bright we may have to wear solar eclipse shades.

By the way, “old man” Steffen? Imparting his advice to the “kids” on the team? He’s 26.
